Assistant Teacher/Teacher for the 2019-20 school year:

Position Summary

The teacher or assistant teacher will work as a team with staff and parents to support our emergent approach to teaching in a rich, playful environment


  • Work as part of a classroom teaching team to plan and carry out the program’s play-based, emergent curriculum

  • Engage with and support children’s exploration and play

  • Observe and assess children’s development and learning

  • Supervise and provide guidance during daily activities.

  • Respect and support children’s play

  • Observe children and assist in planning emergent curriculum

  • Assist in planning and maintaining classroom environment

  • Assist in supervising and coordinating parent volunteers

  • Participate in scheduled family events and parent conferences

Essential Qualifications:

Successful completion of a minimum of 12 units in Early Childhood Education including:

  • Principles and Practices

  • Child Growth and Development

  • Child, Family and Community

  • Curriculum

Willingness to learn about and implement emergent curriculum

Willingness to work in an engaged way in a play-based program

Ability to work as part of a cooperative teaching team

Bachelor’s Degree preferred (any subject)
